FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Should I start on Rakuten, Amazon.co.jp or Qoo10?
It depends on your positioning and target customer. Rakuten has a deep base of women in their 30s to 50s and rewards brand store operation, Amazon.co.jp skews toward search-driven purchases, and Qoo10 is strong with K-beauty shoppers in their 20s and 30s. VIVID BRIDGE designs the channel mix from market analysis rather than defaults.
How long does marketplace onboarding review take in Japan?
Rakuten takes about two to four weeks, Amazon.co.jp one to two weeks, and Qoo10 around a week. Cosmetics require licensing documents and ingredient information on top of the standard application, and incomplete files get sent back. VIVID BRIDGE verifies the documents beforehand to raise the pass rate.
How do marketplace fees work in Japan?
Rakuten charges a monthly fee plus roughly 2% to 7% of sales, Amazon.co.jp charges 8% to 15% referral fees by category, and Qoo10 charges about 6% to 10%. Payment processing, advertising and logistics costs come on top. VIVID BRIDGE runs a per-channel margin simulation so profitability is tested before launch.
How should Japanese product detail pages be written?
They need localization to Japanese buying behavior, not a straight translation. Ingredient and efficacy wording must stay inside PMD Act limits, and image and review placement should follow each channel's guidelines. VIVID BRIDGE writes detail pages with native Japanese copywriters, built for conversion.
